Adsense Don'ts

Although there are so many ways to increase adsense earnings, one must also take note of the DON'S so that you won't be banned by Google!

I used to do this to increase earning and it does work wonder, however, it's already a rule that it's not allowed anymore because the images are deceiving according to Google.

--> This will make your account banned from Google because you're a cheater! If you accidentally do it, it's ok but if it happens often, Google will know! Google is smarter than you think. Also don't ask your friends/family to click the ads too.

You can change the colors but not the design of the code.

--> There's a limit of 3 adsense ads on 1 page. Also, spamming your page with too many ads turns off visitors.

10 Powerful Tips on How to Improve Your Blog Traffic and Increase Advertising Earnings

It doesn’t take an overwhelming amount of experience to make money online - especially through blogging. If you have a general grasp of concepts and ideas floating around on the internet then you should be fairly well off, even as a complete beginner (or a seasoned webmaster). If you want to aim for drastic improvement and a massive rush of traffic, keep reading.

Let’s get started with a quick personal bio about me. I figure you’d need some background information on the author(s) before you really digest the advice.

Personally, I have built over seven successful websites, a few for larger companies/corporations and a few personal ventures – about half and half. My personal startups I was more passionate about and those are the websites that you really cling to and are proud of. Starting your own blog is rewarding and improving it step by step is a rewarding process.

Always remember, be proud of what you do, love it. If you aren’t engulfed by the topic then chances are that your motivation will gradually decline. Don’t let this happen! Stick to something you know and always keep expanding your knowledge. The more you know, the better your content.

1. Your blog needs to be visually appealing. Kick clutter to the curb.

The best blogs are easy to read and minimalistic. This is the first major downfall of every blog. Keep it clean! Don’t put too many ads all over the place and don’t overdo the design. Too many ads can seem like a desperate beg for help, be smart about it! Integrate the ad’s in to seamlessly work with your design.

If your blog strains the eyes, people will not want to come back to read anything else. Use a color scheme (anywhere from 2-4 colors [for help on this, visit Color Schemer) and make sure there is enough spacing around everything. Believe me if your blog is a breeze to read, people will come back to enjoy it more often than not.

2. Don’t go overboard with ad’s if you are just starting out.

If your blog is new (less than 1-2 months old) try to stick it out until you get a decent reader base before integrating ads. You will be able to gauge people’s responses to the website first and get some loyal readers. After you have established some kind of reader base then you can begin to slowly integrate ads.

If you have too many ads, people will get turned off and annoyed, that’s the complete opposite of our goals.

3. Work, edit, and re-work your content.

Content is king as they say. That statement is definitely true. Make sure what you are writing is relevant and interesting to read. Why hang out at a website if there’s nothing worth reading? Have someone edit your articles, take a day or two after its posted and re-read it to see if you can improve anything.

Lightning Tip: Make sure to implement as many relevant keywords as possible to direct search engine traffic.

4. Don’t slack, post new stories/articles often.

I covered this a little before, but it’s worth mentioning again. Write at least 2-3 times per week. It shouldn’t take long. Hell you could talk about a cool new website you found for two paragraphs, that’s better than nothing.

Updating lets your users know that you are still there, it adds new content and gives them a reason to return to your blog

Lightning Tip: The more you post, the more Google picks up your articles (along with other crawlers), this will in the long-run drive thousands of extra users a month to your site if not more.

5. Submit to Social Bookmarking websites.

This is a big one. When I first started out, almost 50% of my traffic came from Digg and Reddit (my two personal favorites). I made 3-4 front pages (popular posts) and traffic exploded. I remember at one point I was struggling to get 500 unique visitors a day, then an article hit a Digg/Reddit front page and my server crashed because I netted almost 60,000 people in one night.

Always submit noteworthy articles, chances are you might get at least 1-2 front page stories per month (if not more!).

6. Network yourself; find other blogs in your niche.

Find other blogs like yours and connect with the authors. E-mail them, post in-depth replies on their articles, most blog owners are extremely nice people and will be willing to help you! Offer to exchange links and such; this will help your community grow, even if by a small margin. Remember, every reader counts. As long as you have at least one reader, you are making an impact.

7. Link your website wherever you can without spamming. (Email, Forums)

Another important topic that is often overlooked. If you are a member of a forum, add it to your signature. Email? Add it as a signature to that too! Wherever you can link without being too pushy, do it. In the long run those extra pageviews will count.

8. Host your blog on your own domain.

No one likes having Buy a domain! These days you can get one anywhere from $3-$5 per month and in no time your ads should easily cover these costs. Get your own domain and be unique.

9. Write compelling titles - capture the reader in the first line.

The title and first three sentences of a post can make or break the post. Capture the reader’s attention off the bat, make them keep reading. Boring, cookie cutter introductions are everywhere, stand out.

10. Don’t give up.

Motivation is key and is also the backbone to building a successful blog (or building anything for that matter). Remember it’s not a quarter mile sprint, it’s a marathon. Take your time, review yourself and your blog and make gradual improvements. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Lightning Tip: Get a friend or colleague to review your website, give you opinions on how to make it better. Be open to constructive criticism.

Ways To Get More Backlinks

By Glen
Released On 05-23-2007

Now there are always people searching on Google looking for ways to get more backlinks to their websites, and to be honest people try looking for perfect relevant backlinks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but seem to overlook the easy links that they can also get to their websites. This article is going to take a brief look at ways to get more backlinks to your website with some short bullet points but bullet points that get to the point like bullet points should. If you are wondering why people would want more backlinks then it's not necessarily for traffic but more than likely they are looking to increase their search engine rankings.
Forum signatures. Almost everyone who is involved In making websites is part of one forum are another, and it's highly unlikely theirs no follow tags on the backlinks so add your links to your forum signature and your links will show every time you post
Submit your websites to directories for lots of free and easy backlinks
Comment on other peoples blog's, although most comment sections tend to have no follow attributes to links not all of them do and people still feel there's some credit given to no follow links anyways, although I tend to disagree without proof
Create articles and submit them to article directories, you can add your links to the authors comment so if your articles get displayed or published anywhere then you get backlinks
Submit press releases, it tends to be the case you get a link from the site that you create the press release on, but if you also pay for a submission you can include links in the actual article content.
Do something viral, this may also be associated as a type of 'link baiting' which is doing something in order to get people to link to you. Such things can be things that are unique, humorous or down right wacky.
Take part in link exchanges. This is thought not to be as effective as it used to be but it's certainly a way of getting more backlinks to your website.
Create a tool that also includes a link to your website. This is certainly one of the ways that you can get the most links to your website in a short space of time. If the tool becomes popular then you are going to build a lot of links to your site.

Have Fun While Making Money through Blogging

Blogs are considered to be one of the "in" things in today's society. Through blogging, you will be able to share your thoughts and ideas for the whole world to read. However, what if you can make money through blogging? It would definitely be a very nice idea and since you do it frequently, why not make some money out of it? This way, you will be able to make some money out of something that is seemingly worthless.

First, before you think about making money through blogging, you first need to know about certain blogging tips that you need in order for it to generate cash.

You have to remember that your blogging website should be dedicated to a specific niche market. This means that your blog website should focus on a specific subject and not just about anything that the world has to offer. For example, if you like cars and you know how cars technically work then you should start a car repair or car maintenance blog. This way you will generate targeted traffic to your website and encourage them to come back for more.

Your blog should also be updated regularly. The reason? This is because frequent visitors in your blogging website would really want to be kept updated about the certain topic you are discussing. Think of it as subscribing to a magazine where every month, you will learn about new things in it. Surely you don’t want to read the same thing over and over again. Take care of your readers by updating and posting fresh contents for your blog website.

You also need a good blog host or blog application. Today, there are several website that offers blog hosting. Make sure that you register with one that you can truly depend upon when it comes to generating targeted traffic. Besides, if people can't find your blog, then there's no point in starting one at all.

You also need enough back links in order to generate more targeted traffic. When you start making a blogging website, directory submission would be sufficient.

Lastly, you have to provide high quality articles to your blogging website. Besides, if you come across a poorly written article, chances are, you will just skip through it and find another article with the same subject. It also helps to support the articles with pictures to make it easier for your readers to understand what you are talking about.

Now that you have all these things in your blog, you now need to know how to make money through blogging. One of the best ways to do this is through affiliate marketing. What you should do is choose an affiliate program that is related to the contents of your blogs or related to the topic inside your blogging website. Affiliate programs works just like billboards. The affiliate company will be making use of your website as a virtual billboard to post in their advertising. If a reader from your website chooses to click on the link and buy a particular product from your affiliate company, then you will earn a commission on that purchase.

Although the commission is relatively small, you have to consider the fact that millions of people are surfing the internet today. The key here is targeted traffic and a group of dedicated readers. Through this, you will be able to get a constant income from your blog website. Just remember to update your blog website frequently with fresh topics and keep your readers interested. In time, you may even quit your day job and focus on your blogging website as the money it will generate will be far more than you expected it to be.

7 Ways to increase traffic to your site.

1. Affiliate Program

This is the risk free way to advertise on the web, you can pay your affiliates a commission on any sales they bring in. Some affiliates specialise in high ranking landing pages that could be used to drive traffic to your site, and all they want in return is a slice of the action. You can either create your own scheme using some of the free scripts available or use a middle man such as (very expensive) or (a bit cheaper).

2. Email Marketing

Are you collecting e-mail addresses of your visitors ? if not why not ? Emailing your customer list can be one of the cheapest ways to generate traffic as you already have built up a relationship and hopefully trust. It's only Spam if they have not consented to have being sent an e-mail and you must give them the option to opt-out. It's called list management and sites such as email marketing service will manage this for you initially for free.

3. Website Monitoring

There's no point executing a bunch of campaigns to get traffic to your site if your site is down when people arrive. If your site is down now how would you know ?, if you're not sure then you need a website monitoring service. try website monitoring (shameless plug)

4. Offline marketing campaign

Don't write off traditional marketing techniques - classified adds, leaflets, business cards, cold calling !!!. The big boys may have cornered the market for search terms such as mortgage and loans, but a leaflet drop in your local area can be very affective.

5. Forum signatures

Contribute to forums that concern your area of focus. Always be on topic and useful. A forum post is not....

"I've found this great site, go and have a look"

It's obvious and irritating, instead contribute helpfully to discussions and leave your signature at the end, put your URL into your signature and place some keywords into the URL title, that way if google spiders the forum it will associate those words with your site. See the example at the end of this posting.

6. Link with high PR sites.

PR = Page Ranking

Google gives all sites a PR value based on a proprietary algorithm, you can use the Google toolbar to figure out your own and other peoples PR. The higher your PR the more likely you are to figure highly in search results, your PR is affected by how many people link to you and what PR they have amongst other attributes.

Find other sites in your area of concern with the same or higher PR values and ask to trade links.

7. Some more content.

Google loves content. You may not want to write a new article every day, but what about some of the content you already have as a business. News items, white papers, company announcements, product descriptions, put them on your site.

How to Use Directories To Improve Traffic To Your Website

I think that a lot of people get into the mindset that building traffic and links to your site is always best done by the latest and greatest new method or software.

They neglect a lot of the “old school” methods of building links in favor of the “flavor of the week” method of building links.

One of the most neglected methods I see is using directory submissions.

Well, this is very much and old school method and it does take some time and work to do well. Also, there isn’t a lot of money in the directory business, so it tends to not be in the limelight when people talk about how to build one way links to a website.

That’s really unfortunate because using directories can be a great way to improve your search engine rankings.

First of all, with just about all directories you get a one way link to your website. Some directories will want you to pay, and for really popular directories, the fee is worth it, but there are literally thousands of directories that you can submit your site to for free. So if you want a way to build links to your site for free, try this one out.

I try not to get too hung up on Google Pagerank, but for a lot of people, having a higher Pagerank not only means better search engine rankings, but it’s simply a matter of pride. Getting links from directories can be an easy way to boost your Pagerank up a notch or two.

Getting in the higher quality directories can also help you get a better Trustrank score with Google. This is one of the algorithms that Google uses to rank your site, and it’s especially important if you want to rank well for competitive terms. While most directories won’t help you get a better Trustrank score, the best ones certainly seem to (Google never says which sites are in their list of “trusted” sites). I’d recommend getting yourself a Yahoo Directory listing and trying for a DMOZ listing until you get one.

And while you’re not going to get rich off of traffic from the directories directly, you can get a nice little stream of traffic flowing into you site from directories if you are consistent and keep getting your site in more and more directories over time.

So if you want better search engine rankings and more traffic to your website, then be sure to add directory submissions to your war chest of link building methods.
